You can order chicks by mail at http://www.idealpoultry.com/ or http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/ . They really do make great pets (the kids love them) and there's always the plus of getting free eggs. The picture above is of our chicken, Mama. We've had her nearly 3 years now. She's survived a racoon AND dog attack, poor thing, but she is the sweetest chicken I have yet to meet.
